"As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him."  Colossians  2:6

It is with great sadness that I must announce that the doors to our church building will remain closed for a while. Governor Ducey has issued a “stay at home” order for the entire state, and as followers of Jesus we need to be good citizens and “be in subjection to the governing authorities” (Romans 13:1). We all need to remember that the building at 1000 E. 24th street is not  the church! We, the family of born-again believers are the church wherever we are. So, this is a great opportunity for us to be the church outside of the walls of the building and love people right next door. Be in touch with your neighbors and love them as you love yourself (Mark 12:31).

In these challenging times we need to look for alternative ways to stay connected as a church family. There are a few ways to do so. First, use the telephone. Speak to one another, encourage each other, and discover needs. Pray for and with one another—God hears prayers, even over the phone. Second, if you are on social media of any kind, post encouraging messages and keep everyone updated as to how you are doing. Third, use email and converse with each other, send pictures, and share the Word of God with one another. Fourth, I’m sure you can think of more ways than I can to stay connected. The point is that even though we may be physically isolated, we don’t have to completely isolate ourselves from one another.

Remember, God is on His throne. None of this has caught Him by surprise. He will see us through this. Our hope is not dependent on this world or the circumstances thereof. Our hope is in the Lord Jesus Christ! And He will not disappoint! We may need to practice social distancing, but Christ is in you! He is very, very near!
